Had to get this game, just wasted the entire evening playing it. Did a lot of programing as a kid and then again about 25 years ago, so just went in without using any of the tutorials, got almost all the tech tree unlocked.

UEVR works perfect on this.. make it a true VR game .. Just disable controller option(now its a mouse and keyboard game not disturbed by controllers on vr headset) in uevr and set cursor always shows .. and there you go... very cool indeed ... as this urvr is free and make any unreal game into a vr game:)

I love this game. if you have an interest in learning programming this is a great way to get an introduction into python and basic programming concepts.

hi Z, if you're going to continue this game, one thing you have to buy is the "comms booster" (it looks like a wi-fi router) this item doubles your ability to go deeper from 250 to 500 if you are thinking about buying the "collection arm" So far I have only found 3 artifacts, you have 2 on the left side of the map, go to the end of the map and then go down and look for a sunken boat there you have a bell and a bottle, then on the right side of the map inside a cave you have a shell (takes a small submarine)

I loved Scratch when I was in high school. There's a person on there who made a 2D paper version of Minecraft with working random terrain generation. The last time I played it, it was constantly being updated with new things. It has a bunch of the classic mobs, villages, and even working nether portals that send you to the nether.

At the end you can remove the entire else block if you shift the indentions left a space on the if get_pos_x blocks.

I'm not sure about later stages of the game, but right now literaly the only thing that need to be under "if can_harvest():" is harvest(). Also maybe this will help you understand if/elif/else structure. if condition_a: do everything with this indentation elif condition_b: <- condition_a is False, try condition_b do this if condition_b is True else: <- all conditions are False do this It's also worth mentioning that elif and else are OPTIONAL. If you have code that have to run no matter the conditions, you can just remove one tab from indentation and it will just run after condition checks.

If you continue to go to the right from the cave behind the falls you found, go past the last falls there's another cave with the coords are: 2462:109:325. This cave has a lot of Aluminum and towards the end you can go left & right the left ends with a chest and going right you will need explosives not sure how many I haven't blown it up yet.

Dude, remember to pick up the various quartz crystals from the chests, most of them are in limited supply outside of loot chests. The only exceptions are the pulsar quartz and <spoiler> quartz. Edit: Best ending is secret ending, and even that is ambiguous.

I like the idea of a game that teaches programming.

While you were playing, I thought I knew better than what you were doing so I went and Purchased the game only to realize my computer can't even run the game properly. That said, I enjoyed watching this and would like to see you play more of it. Thank you for the new interest in Coding, yay to a new hyperfixation lol.

38:50 in case anyone was wondering why this didn't work, it's a little tricky to spot. The way that truth is evaluated in most programming languages is basically "anything that is not False". Things that are considered False can include things like False, or 0, or an empty string of characters (literally what's between the quotations here: ""). The number 3 will evaluate as a True statement. By putting the "or" in the position he did, he has 2 logical statements: "get_pos_x() == 0" and "3". However, the 3 is always evaluating to True since it's not False-like (or "Falsy"). The "or" always has at least 1 side that is True, so it always evaluates as True. Hence, he's planting bushes everywhere (except the tilled soil where the plant action just fails).

I used to be a TA for my programming professor in college, and it was always interesting seeing new programmers figuring out things for the first time. Having played it myself, this game is a pretty good way to introduce the basics and you did really well. It was genuinely a joy, and a bit nostalgic, to get to watch someone figuring it out their first program again. The game isn't a perfect teaching tool, and has a few pitfalls, which you unfortunately ran into around 39:00 when you tried to do "if get_pos_y() == 0 or 3". First is that when you use "and" or "or" in an if statement, the conditions are evaluated as "if conditionA or conditionB". What you should have written was "if get_pos_y() == 0 or get_pos_y() == 3". Unlocking variables and functions in the game can help clean this up so you aren't forced to repeat huge sections of code so often. What the game also doesn't tell you is that in many programming languages (including Python, the language the game uses) zero is equivalent to False and any non-zero number is considered True. This meant that your if statement was actually interpreted by the game as "if get_pos_y() == 0 or True", so it was always running. This can trip up even seasoned developers since it's not consistent across programming languages, so don't feel bad for not realizing why it was breaking things. All in all, I think you did very good for your first attempt at programming and I'm really looking forward to seeing more!
